Dusseldorf According to a media report, the world’s largest chip manufacturer TSMC from Taiwan is in talks with the federal government about the possible construction of a chip factory in Germany. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing Lora Ho, who is responsible for sales in Europe and Asia at TSMC.

However, no one talked about locations or possible government subsidies, according to Ho. TSMC Chairman Mark Liu had already announced in the summer that the chip manufacturer was planning production sites in Europe.

TSMC mainly manufactures in its home country Taiwan, but has since started building new factories abroad. A $ 12 billion foundry is currently being built in the US state of Arizona, and another plant is to be built soon in Japan.

More: No end of the chip crisis in sight
