Former US President Donald Trump founded his own social media platform, Truth Social, due to his problems with Twitter. Trademark attorney Josh Gerben announced that the Truth Social platform’s trademark application was rejected by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Created by the Trump Media and Technology Group, Truth Social is similar in design to Twitter, which permanently suspended Trump’s account in January 2021. The platform, which came to the fore with technical problems shortly after its launch in February, lost potential users in the process.

The patent office found that the company name Trump filed was “confusingly similar” to other organizations, including the social media platform Vero – True Social and the Truth Network, a radio broadcasting network.
The document published by the patent office states, “Truth Social has the word truth in its name. Vero – True Social platform similarly has the word True, which means true, true. Both platforms bear similarity because of the name. In addition, it can be said that both companies have a similar name, except for the letter differences.” statements were included.

Trump announced in June that Truth Social will merge with Digital World Acquisition Corp. Analysts state that the issue being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Commission may prevent companies from merging.
