“Too little and too late” – Taxpayers’ Association demands correction of the relief

Berlin The traffic light parties want to decide on Saturday in a coalition committee about further relief for citizens in view of the increased energy prices. Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) has proposed an inflation compensation law as part of the package of measures, which is intended to reduce income tax.

According to the taxpayers’ association, however, the announced corrections are not enough to compensate for the cold progression. “With a view to a real reduction in the cold progression and a real inflation adjustment, as the law actually promises, this is too little and too late,” says a paper by the association. In the end, the Treasury could still be the winner of inflation if the relief is not set higher.
