Tips to help you save energy in the office and home office

Berlin Electricity and gas prices are rising rapidly. The energy crisis comes to a head in the cold season, saving is the order of the day. Many people are therefore trying to reduce their consumption – at home in the home office or in the office.

Whether lamps, laptops or heating, the good news is that even small changes can reduce energy consumption during working hours. The Handelsblatt has asked a private energy consultant and experts from the consumer advice center and the Federal Association of Energy and Water Management (BDEW) where the greatest potential for savings lies. These are her twelve best tips for the office and the home office.

1. Heaters should be free standing

Lisa Efkemann is a project manager at the Bode planning company for energy efficiency and advises taking a close look at the radiators. If furniture such as a desk or armchair is in front of it, it should be moved. Curtains should not cover the heat sources either. “This is the only way for cooler air to flow in and for the radiator to work efficiently,” she says.
