Boston, NY Joe Biden accelerates the fight against cancer. On Thursday, the White House launched the next stage of the US President’s so-called “Cancer Moonshot” initiative. The goal: to reduce deaths from cancer by at least 50 percent within 25 years. So “the word cancer should lose its power forever,” said Biden.

It includes a bundle of measures: The US government is investing almost twelve billion dollars in several initiatives for research into and prevention of cancer. In the 2023 budget year alone, $1.5 billion will go towards setting up a new federal agency to fight cancer, called ARPA-H. Public-private partnerships and pledges also add up to more than $320 million.
