Munich Germany faces a gigantic task. The stock of buildings that are not energy efficient by today’s standards is enormous. Just under ten percent of residential buildings have the high efficiency class A or A+ and only need a fraction of the energy of a class G or H house.
The need for rehabilitation and the demand for expert advice are correspondingly high, especially since the outbreak of the Ukraine war. Martin Brandis from the Federal Association of Consumer Advice Centers reported around 70 percent more calls this year. The waiting lists for many energy consultants are correspondingly long.
In order to remove hurdles, the federal government has changed the federal funding for efficient buildings, BEG for short. Some things should become easier from January 1, 2023, and on top of that, owners can get higher subsidies for their renovation. The Handelsblatt shows which steps owners of houses and apartments now have to take in order to make their property more energy-efficient.
