Rome, Paris, London For Robert Habeck there is no way around it. The German climate and economics minister announced this week after the compromise on the new KfW funding rules that future programs to promote energy-saving construction in Germany would have to be much more stringent.

Last week, the minister stopped the promotion of efficient houses and energy-efficient renovation with immediate effect because the flood of applications exceeded the funds made available – and now another five billion euros have been made available.

But Germany is not the only country in Europe that is currently spending a lot of money on building to support the energy transition. What are other governments offering as an incentive for climate-friendly conversion?

The Handelsblatt correspondents took a look at the situation in major European countries. Surprisingly, one country in the south in particular stands out.
