Shanghai, Vienna These are sobering numbers. Mercedes-Benz has only been able to sell 4599 vehicles of its two fully electric top-of-the-range sedans EQS and EQE in China since the market launch. This emerges from data from the automotive service provider Marklines.

The people of Stuttgart had hoped for a multiple of that. But potential customers complain about too little space and comfort in the rear. Now the Dax group is reacting.

There are also higher-quality headrests, a more inclined backrest and a heat pump for more efficiency. The infotainment system is also getting an update. A facelift with visual changes will follow in 2025. Mercedes declined to comment.

The adjustments are an example of the means by which Germany’s car manufacturers are trying to boost sales of electric cars in the Far East, some of which are sluggish.
