This Bitcoin Company Was Targeted!

Bitcoin infrastructure company Blockstream announced that its users were targeted through a Phishing scam that impersonates its brand. The company warned users not to open incoming e-mails.

Scammers infiltrated Bitcoin company’s Jade wallet

Jade is the popular non-custodial crypto wallet created by leading Bitcoin (BTC) development studio Blockstream. This wallet was attacked which resulted in its customers receiving phishing emails from scammers. Earlier today, Jade Wallet users began receiving scam warning letters stating that the Jade hardware wallet had been exploited and Blockstream had issued an urgent firmware release. Scammers directed users to a red button in the letter with the possibility to launch one software upgrade at once. However, it turned out that Blockstream had no hand in this.

Blockstream later made a statement regarding the issue. According to a post shared by the Bitcoin company on X, the person sending these emails is trying to impersonate the company. Fortunately, the phishing emails were sent via an unrelated third-party domain. Thanks to this, the hacker was not able to gain access to Blockstream’s mail server.

Blockstream warned users: Do not open it!

Meanwhile, investigations are still ongoing. So until then, the company recommends that users stay away from any suspicious emails claiming to be from Blockstream. Users are requested not to open any of these links or emails. “Blockstream will never ask for personal information via email,” the wallet creator said. He added a disclaimer.

Additionally, the Bitcoin company has urged users not to share seed testimonies online or even tell anyone else, even if they claim to be from the company’s support team. Additionally, he emphasized that users should make all updates via the Blockstream Green wallet app or custom firmware website.

Bitcoin company users suspect foul play does!

Notably, many users of the sophisticated non-custodial wallet were not convinced by Blockstream’s explanation. Some of these people suspect that the Bitcoin firm may have deliberately leaked their data to fraudsters. These users stated that they only shared their email addresses with Blockstream to further strengthen their stance.
