Berlin Finding an appointment was difficult. Christian Lindner (FDP) had to change his travel plans and shorten a business trip to Israel. Now the Federal Minister of Finance is staying in Berlin on Saturday so that he can take part in the coalition committee.

On Saturday morning, the leaders of the SPD, Greens and FDP will meet with Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) for the crucial deliberations. After weeks of discussions, the traffic light coalition wants to decide on a third relief package to help citizens and companies in view of the increased energy prices.

Finance Minister Lindner announced a “massive package”. Chancellor Scholz held out the prospect of “precise, tailor-made relief”. The measures should be “as tailor-made as possible, as efficient as possible, as targeted as possible”.
