These brands have gaps on supermarket shelves

During the Corona lockdowns, customers kept the shelves empty. Now the price dispute is causing gaps in the supermarket offering.

Dusseldorf At Rewe, Jacobs Kaffee, Kellogg’s Cornflakes, Frolic and Whiskas are missing from the shelves. Snickers, Coca-Cola and Milka are looking in vain for customers at Edeka. Ritter Sport chocolate can no longer be found at Kaufland. Pepsi is no longer available from Aldi Nord. There are currently more brands missing from the shelves of supermarket chains than ever before.

A power struggle is raging in the food industry, the likes of which Germany has never seen before. The price dispute is even carried out publicly – also in court. There have always been gaps on supermarket shelves. But since the costs of raw materials, energy and logistics have risen sharply, food manufacturers have been forced to raise prices – often for the second time in 2022.
