Frankfurt The good news: The chaos at the airport is over and things are getting better again in the industry, which is plagued by staff shortages. The bad news: there is still no sign of normality – things could get tight again at some airports around Christmas and the turn of the year.

Airlines and airports have not yet been able to hire staff on a large scale, says Jan-Frederik Arnold, head of the flight rights portal Flightright: “Therefore, I assume that delays and flight cancellations will again be above the level of 2019.”

Airlines such as Lufthansa, Eurowings, Condor and Easyjet are currently reporting high demand for flight tickets in the coming weeks. Traditionally, people travel a lot, especially before and after the holidays. Anyone planning to board the jet can take precautions in case their flight is delayed or cancelled.
