Frankfurt They are the model companies of the republic in the future market with drones and electric vertical take-offs: Lilium from near Munich and Volocopter from Karlsruhe. Hardly a week goes by in which the start-up companies do not present a partnership or new plans.
The problem: Both of them outshine the German drone scene so much that other companies, some of which are technologically advanced in their niche, suffer from a lack of awareness.
The aviation associations BDL and BDLI counted 394 companies – on average just 3.1 years old, with 12.3 employees and a turnover of 330,000 euros. Michael Santo, CEO of the Munich-based consulting firm H&Z, which focuses on aviation, speaks of a unique eco-system in drone technology, but at the same time criticizes the incomplete perception of this drone industry.
