Berlin The shortage of skilled workers is spreading – and playing into the hands of candidates who are considering a job change. Now it turns out that even many people who are happy with their job are thinking about an alternative to their current position.
This is one of the most important results of a survey by market researcher Trendence, which is available exclusively to Handelsblatt. Every year, Trendence surveys academics in Germany with a university or college degree. This year there were more than 16,000.

A third of those surveyed say they are open to job offers, another third look for a new professional challenge “from time to time”, and 15 percent actively hunt for a job. At the same time, more than 80 percent of those surveyed stated that they were satisfied with their current position. How does that fit together?
