There must be no war euphoria in Germany

In view of the terror war in Ukraine, it is easy to understand that many in the West who until very recently were still supporters of social-democratic-green pacifist ideas have now become expert tank and artillery suppliers overnight. Yes, it is correct: it is now crucial that Putin cannot win this aggressive war victoriously.

Ukraine must be supported with all available means in such a way that there is a real chance of preserving the country’s territorial integrity. Only on this basis can an armistice agreement or even a peace treaty for Ukraine lead to a result that is not too reminiscent of capitulation.

But it must not lead to a kind of war euphoria. Unfortunately, we Germans tend to go to extremes. The sooner the war can be ended in the above sense, the better.
