Helmut Schmidt wrote the following sentence: “The snail’s pace is the normal pace of any democracy.” However, the SPD, Greens and FDP are the exception.
The three parties put together an exploratory paper in record time, which after eight tough years of the grand coalition is already a value in itself. Apparently irreconcilable contradictions between the Liberals and the Greens were overcome: The FDP accepted a solar obligation for commercial buildings. The Greens and the SPD waived the required speed limit.
The direction is right
Overall, the result is a package with huge hopes for the future. There is also a piece of buying your own electorate and reassuring news for business and citizens. So a promising mix of Olaf Scholz, Annalena Baerbock, Robert Habeck and Christian Lindner, which gives hope for solid coalition negotiations.
