Blast launches main-net with local yield on ETH and stablecoins

Blast, a new layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum, has launched mainnet with the unique feature of offering local yield on Ether and stablecoins. Users who deposit ETH or stablecoins to Blast will automatically earn interest on their balance without having to deposit or lend it to any protocol. Blast says this feature increases capital efficiency for users. He also claims that Blast unlocks new possibilities for decentralized applications (Dapps) that can leverage local yield and gas sharing primitives.

Metis integrates Chainlink CCIP

Metis, a permissionless Ethereum layer-2 network powering the next generation of decentralized applications, announced a strategic partnership with industry-standard decentralized computing platform Chainlink to leverage Chainlink CCIP as the canonical token bridge infrastructure.

Chainlink CCIP is a protocol that provides secure and reliable cross-chain interoperability between any Blockchain. According to Chainlink, it is the only cross-chain solution that achieves level-5 security, the highest standard of cross-chain security. It also monitors cross-chain transactions for any malicious or erroneous activity. What’s more, a separate network that verifies them, the Risk Management Network, also supports it.

StarWare introduces Stwo

StarWare is the developer of Starknet, a Layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum. The developer announced the development of a new open source zero-knowledge (ZK) proof called Stwo. This proof is based on a new protocol, Circle STARKs. Circle STARKs promises to increase the efficiency and speed of zero-knowledge proofs.

Zero-knowledge proofs are a cryptographic technique that allows users to verify the validity of transactions or calculations without revealing any sensitive information. It is necessary to ensure the security and privacy of Layer-2s, aiming to reduce congestion and high fees on the Ethereum main-net.

Marginfi launches YBX on Solana

Meanwhile, Marginfi, a Solana-based lending protocol, announced the launch of YBX, an over-collateralized stablecoin backed by liquidity secured tokens (LSTs). LSTs are tokens that represent a share of the liquidity pool on marginfi. Additionally, there are possibilities to borrow, lend or buy shares in the protocol. The project plans to launch YBX on mainnet by mid-to-late March. The token will provide a competitive return to its holders.

According to the Marginfi website, YBX will have three revenue streams. These are: Solana staking yield (~8%), miner extractable value (MEV) capture (LSTs using Jito’s MEV client), and lending yield (on marginfi). This makes YBX one of the highest-yielding decentralized stablecoins in the crypto space. It also makes it a decentralized, diversified and secure alternative to other stablecoins backed by centralized assets such as USDC, USDT, DAI and FRAX.
