Microsoft has rolled up its sleeves to make the Xbox app for Windows even more useful. The journey, which started with the compact mode they introduced last year, started with making the user interface compatible with small screens, but this was not the truth of the matter. “Skip Back” feature for Windows’ Xbox app
Microsoft released a special update for Xbox Insiders today. With this update, it introduced an important feature called “Skip Back”. Thanks to this feature, you will be able to quickly return to the last games you played on your Windows portable devices. It will display up to nine games on the Xbox app’s home screen, and you’ll just have to press the menu button on your controller to launch the game directly.
As if this wasn’t enough, Microsoft has also overhauled the friends panel. You’ll now be able to quickly access your friends list from a sidebar that’s more easily accessible with a portable game console or controller. The Friends panel is equipped with large buttons to join party chats, making it even easier to click.

Kena Bridge of Spirits, which started exclusively for PlayStation and received great acclaim, is now preparing to step into the Xbox platform.
While these updates look nice, using the Xbox app on a device like the ROG Ally can still be a bit cumbersome. It can be difficult to access the sidebar, especially without touching the screen. In some parts the app can get stuck and you have to scroll to the top of the page or select a specific item to access the sidebar.
Microsoft still has a long way to go to improve the overall portable console experience on Windows, but there’s an opportunity for PC Game Pass subscribers to take advantage of early improvements. Microsoft aims to make the gaming experiences of Windows users richer and more accessible by improving the Xbox application with updates such as the Skip back feature.
