The World Bank Announces It Will Donate $1.78 Billion

While aid continues to come from all over the world after the Kahramanmaraş earthquake disaster, the World Bank announced that it will donate 1.78 billion dollars to Turkey.

After the earthquake in our country, which seriously affected 10 provinces, thousands of lives were lost, while cities became almost uninhabitable. The World Bank announced today that it will donate $1.78 billion for recovery and reconstruction after the earthquake in Turkey.

The World Bank will begin a rapid damage assessment to estimate the magnitude of the disaster and identify priority areas for recovery and reconstruction support based on its extensive experience in disaster risk management around the world.

David Malpass, President of the World Bank Group, “On behalf of the World Bank Group, we offer our deepest condolences to the peoples of Turkey and Syria for the great losses you have suffered as a result of the devastating earthquakes.” said.

malpass, “We are providing emergency assistance, preparing a rapid assessment of the urgent and major needs on the ground. This will identify priority areas for the country’s recovery and rebuilding, and we will prepare operations to support those needs.” said.

From two existing projects in Turkey (Turkey Earthquake, Flood and Forest Fires Emergency Restructuring Project (TEFWER) and Climate and Disaster Resistant Cities Project) Via Contingent Emergency Response Components (CERCs) 780 million dollars emergency assistance will be offered.

CERCs will help recipient countries quickly access project funds for emergency response, as is currently needed in Turkey. The aid will be used to rebuild basic infrastructure at the municipal level.

Support operations of 1 billion dollars will be provided for earthquake victims.
