The Union voices – “You have to have a nose” – Bundesliga

Union Berlin is in the cup semifinals! The Irons prevailed 2-1 (1-1) against second division St. Pauli. Sheraldo Becker (45th) and substitute Andreas Voglsammer (75th) scored for the Köpenicker. The Union votes after the game.

Coach Urs Fischer (56): “We played a very good and dominant first half. We had a lot more chances there, but out of nowhere you’re suddenly chasing a deficit. The team stuck with it and turned the game around with a lot of will and passion. Things got tight again in added time, but over the 90 minutes it was a deserved win. I congratulated the boys, it’s a great pleasure there.”

Victory scorer Andreas Voglsammer (30): “The coach said I should step on the gas. You have to have a bit of a nose for something like this to happen. It’s important that I help the team with goals. In the end, what counts is getting through.”

Captain Christopher Trimmel (35): “The semifinals are definitely something special. We have big plans, we really wanted to get ahead and I think we succeeded in that.”

Manager Oliver Ruhnert (50): “I am very happy that we are in the last four. In terms of sport, it’s good to have such an experience in these times. That is also good for people.”

St.Pauli coach Timo Schultz (38): “Deserved in the end. Union put a lot of pressure on, especially in the first half. Characteristic of the day are the two goals conceded, where we slip away twice. The small mistakes are punished at such a level.”
