Berlin Despite the economic downturn, the state can expect significantly higher tax revenues over the next five years. Compared to the tax estimate from May, the federal, state and local governments can expect around 110 billion euros more over the forecast period from 2022 to 2026. This emerges from the templates of the working group of tax assessors, like that Handelsblatt from government and coalition circles and those familiar with the estimate experienced. Their meeting was scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

The figures from the tax estimators are awaited with particular excitement this time. Because they provide information about the extent to which the energy crisis is affecting the state budget, how capable the state is of acting in times of crisis and how the financial situation will develop.

This question recently had political explosiveness. The federal government and the federal states recently fought a bitter dispute over the financing of the third relief package.
