Polestar, which announced its new electric car in 2023, made its debut in North America at the New York International Auto Show this week. Visitors had the opportunity to closely examine Polestar 4, with its feature that attracted great attention and also caused controversy. Let’s take a look at the intriguing features and price of Polestar 4.

Launched for the first time at the New York International Auto Show, Polestar 4 attracts attention with its exterior appearance at first glance. Slightly smaller and more affordable than the Polestar 3, the nose of the company’s newest electric car is slightly more pointed and curved. It also does not have a front wing like the Polestar 3. It retains its still very popular low coupe shape. This model, which attracts attention at first glance, continues to show off its features.

But as we know, Polestar has abandoned the rear window altogether. The reason for this is to provide more comfortable and wider space for the passengers in the back seat. Instead of the rear glass, simple metal sheets, cameras and a rearview mirror with an embedded screen were used. Since there is no rear window, Polestar has managed to push the rear seats further back while maintaining ample headroom despite the sloping roofline that creates a spacious cabin.

Launch visitors who had the opportunity to experience Polestar 4 shared their experiences by mentioning that despite all this, they had no problems getting in and out of the car, and that even though the front seats were pushed far back, there was still enough leg room in the back.

“We gained many advantages thanks to this design change.” Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath seems to have attracted the attention of visitors who had the opportunity to experience the advantages firsthand.

Although the initial cost of Polestar’s new favorite, whose price is quite a matter of curiosity, is around 60 thousand dollars, the launch prices are of course slightly lower than this. The launch price for the standard, long-range single-motor version with a range of approximately 300 miles (482 km) starts at $56,000, while the dual-motor AWD version with a range of approximately 270 miles (434.52288 km) starts at $64,000.

CEO Ingenlath’s opinion on the price range is as follows: “We see the Polestar 4 as a more affordable but still very premium offering among electric cars.”

Although the features of Polestar 4 are endless, it is also mentioned that it feels like a designer car. The reason for this is that the company pays attention to small details such as font and typography. We can see this from the text on the driver’s side door, which provides a label that is both discreet and informative, containing both the name of the car and the battery size.

It is also interesting that Polestar offers a feature such as ambient lighting in interior design, using a naming standard based on the planets in the solar system as an alternative.

CEO Ingenlath supports their designs with these words:

“A lot is said about psychology and how people are naturally averse to change. But innovation is about asking what the rules were in the past, which are not necessarily the rules in the future. That’s why we love what we do and do it with passion. In this regard, we need to find people who share the same passion for this kind of quality and technology.”
