Ripple’s XRP The validators have finally voted for the update that will bring NFT support to its Ledger (XRPL). Ripple will update its servers to implement the protocol. However, Ripple’s CTO David Schwartz is not in favor of voting ‘yes’ in the voting yet.
Can the New Update Help XRP?
Ripple’s dev blog mentions that they have carried out extensive testing for the stable, scalable purpose of NFT code to meet the expected volume and ensure it is efficient. According to the developers’ statement, as a result of the tests, it was announced that the XRPL network is at a level that can handle the extra processing load.
However, the results of these tests will be announced in the coming weeks. It was explained that the reason for the late announcement of the test results was to understand the performance characteristics and the resources required by the server operators. Verifiers were asked to do their own research before voting on the issue.
Ripple CTO Asks To Wait
On the other hand, Ripple CTO seems a little cautious about voting βYesβ for the update. Schwartz expressed support for this change, but added that he would not have voted yes if he had been a validator. According to Schwartz, he said he would wait for other validators to push to the 1.9.1 update without any issues.
Stating that such updates are difficult, Schwartz underlined the need to be cautious in such situations.
I lean towards yes, but if I were running a validator, I wouldn’t vote yes just yet. I’d at least wait until other validators had upgraded to 1.9.1 and reported no issues and I’d also wait enough time for anyone who had concerns to raise them.
