Amazon Prime, which has attracted great attention since the day it first entered the Turkish market and has remained at a monthly subscription price of 7.90 for a long time despite inflation, also provides the Prime Video service in addition to many other services it offers. The platform, which is appreciated for many aspects, will adopt the strategy of its competitors.
Amazon Prime Video ad tier coming
Netflix and Disney introduced ad-supported plans to their users in late 2022. Later, domestic platforms such as Exxen also adapted to this strategy, which attracted a lot of reactions at the time. Amazon Prime Video, which is seen as the last bastion in this regard, is introducing the advertising layer application.
Amazon subscription, which offers privileges such as fast and free shipping, Prime Gaming and Prime Video, is available for 39 TL per month. It was stated that this service, which is available for $ 14.99 in the USA, will now be a tier with ads, and will be switched to an ad-free tier for an additional fee of $ 2.99. Advertised prices in Türkiye are not immediately clear. However, it seems that Amazon will offer an additional ad-free tier membership for 39 TL.
On the other hand, it is stated that Amazon has introduced a new subscription method to reduce costs and benefit more from advertisements. Amazon’s advertising revenue increased by around 20 percent in the first quarter of 2023. This appears to have led the company to further integrate advertising into Prime Video.
