Brussels In the past few days, Olena Halushka has often had to think of Viktor and Vitaliy, the two boys she met many years ago in the boy scouts. They were adventurous and full of energy. Both are now dead, victims of Russian aggression against which they wanted to defend their homeland, Ukraine.
Viktor Gurniak died in 2014 when Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula and advanced into parts of the Donbas. Vitaliy Derekh fell a week ago, also on the eastern front. He had been transferred there after successfully fighting the invaders in the Kyiv suburbs.
