Flying car is one of humanity’s biggest dreams. Many companies have been working on this issue for many years. Recently, important moves have been coming from different companies in this regard. BETA Technologies, an aerospace manufacturer, is one of them.

We are getting closer to flying taxis step by step

BETA Technologies’ electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) flying taxi has completed its first test flight in New York. The company aims to put its flying taxi into commercial use by 2026, with Blade Air Mobility adjusting passenger reservations.

Blade Air Mobility is currently arranging short-haul helicopter trips for wealthy customers who want to save time by avoiding traffic. The company plans to start using BETA’s eVTOL tool in New York within three years.

BETA Technologies currently employs around 300 people and has raised over $800 million since its founding in 2017. The company’s ALIA-250 EVA eVTOL flying taxi model has two versions, one for cargo and the other for passengers. The passenger version has a capacity of 6 people, including the pilot. The maximum speed of the aircraft, which was produced with a cost of 4 million dollars, is stated as 274 km / h.

The flying taxi named ALIA-250 EVA offers a range of approximately 465 kilometers. The charging time of flying vehicles is only 50 minutes. It is stated that all-electric aircraft taxis make 1/10th the noise of a conventional helicopter.

Tests of the flying taxi took place last week at the Westchester county airport in White Plains, New York. BETA already has multiple fully functional ALIA-250 EVA prototypes, many of which have completed test flights of over 320 kilometers.
