The crisis continues in BlackBerry: Another bad news has come!

Blackberry, which was shown as one of the most successful companies in the phone industry for a while, could not keep up with the radical change that has taken place since 2010 and lost its former power to a large extent. Although the company tested the market by making a few experiments with its new models in this process, it could never achieve the target it wanted in terms of sales figures.

BlackBerry sells 8 billion TL of patents: That’s the company!

BlackBerry announced that it has sold its mobile device, messaging and wireless network patent rights, valued at more than TL 8 billion ($ 600 million).

Bad news came from BlackBerry models with 5G support

BlackBerry has ended support for devices running BlackBerry 7.1 OS and earlier versions, BlackBerry 10 software, PlayBook OS 2.1 and earlier versions in the past months. A short time later, the company announced that it had decided to sell its mobile and messaging patent rights, which exceeded 8 billion TL, to Catapult IP Innovations.

While allegations were made that the company would terminate its smartphone business after this successive bad news, the sad news came about the 5G supported BlackBerry models, which are expected to be released in the future.

As it will be remembered, a license partnership was established between BlackBerry and OnwardMobility last year. In this context, it was announced by OnwardMobility that BlackBerry smartphones with 5G support will be released very soon. However, things did not go well for the two companies, and the release date of the devices in question was constantly delayed.

According to the latest information, BlackBerry models with 5G support will never be released. However, this is not due to the claims that OnwardMobility will be shut down before. Because the main reason why the devices will not come is the termination of the license partnership between the two companies, unlike any shutdown.

Thereupon, BlackBerry decided to move one step further from the smartphone business by selling its mobile and messaging patent rights, which exceeded 8 billion TL. However, for now, there has been no statement about whether the company will withdraw from the phone business.

So what do you think about this subject? What do you think is the main reason why BlackBerry has not been able to implement its plans in recent years? Do not forget to share your views with us in the comments section or on the SDN Forum.
