The chip crisis does not end: Toyota stops production in Turkey!

In the past 2 years, we have seen that many technology and automotive companies stopped their production for a short time. The biggest reason for this was Covid-19. However, the problems experienced in the supply of semiconductor parts and the effects of the chip crisis affecting the global market still continue. Finally, Toyota announced that it will stop production in Turkey.

One of the TSMC management shared his predictions about the global chip shortage affecting all technology giants in his interview.

Toyota is stopping production at its Sakarya factory this week!

Toyota announced that the production line will not operate at its factory in Sakarya between 7 and 12 March. The company stated that this situation was foreseen in the last year due to the global chip crisis and the shutdown, which is expected to last for 5 days, is planned in December 2021.

Increasing the number of production in its factories in Turkey every year, Toyota Automotive Industry announced that more than 230 thousand cars were produced in the last year. He said that nearly 190 thousand of these vehicles were exported to various parts of the world, especially to Europe.

In addition, as of last year, Toyota Turkey announced that it produced and sold its 3 millionth automobile in our country. When we look at the total revenue of the exported vehicles, we see that it has reached the level of 3.6 billion dollars. Its total revenue is estimated to approach $5 billion.

It is said that after the short-term closure to be experienced in the next week, all employees will return to work and the production process will continue from where it left off. In other words, it is understood that such a process should be experienced not because they do not have materials, but in order to keep the stock situation under control.
