Frankfurt The turnaround in interest rates on the German real estate market gives buyers new scope for negotiation. “It is worthwhile for interested parties to make their own bold price proposal,” advises Gesa Crockfold, co-managing director of Germany’s largest real estate portal Immoscout 24, in an interview with the Handelsblatt. The proportion of price-reduced offers on the platform has doubled year-on-year. “At the beginning of 2022 it was still 6.2 percent, now it’s twelve percent.”

On average, sellers currently have to accept a discount of around ten percent on their offers. “But not in the very sought-after locations,” says Crockfold. However, the expert, whose platform is used by around 19.5 million people interested in real estate, does not believe that the price slide on the German market will continue. Those who are interested should therefore not wait too long.
