Berlin The federal and state governments are planning extensive restrictions for unvaccinated people at their crisis summit on Thursday. Nationwide, access to facilities such as cinemas, theaters and restaurants should only be possible for vaccinated and convalescent people (2G), according to the draft resolution that is available to the Handelsblatt. The 2G rule is also to be “extended to the retail trade regardless of incidence”.

In addition, stricter contact restrictions for unvaccinated people are planned. Private get-togethers in public or private areas should be restricted to unvaccinated people in their own household and a maximum of two other people. In addition, major events should be subject to massive restrictions.

There is an alarm mood in retail with a view to the impending restrictions. “For many retailers, November and December are by far the periods with the highest sales,” said Stefan Genth, managing director of the HDE trade association, the Handelsblatt. Access restrictions with the exception of vaccinated and recovered people (2G) or even business closings are a “total loss for many retail companies”. Then the inner cities are threatened with desertification.
