Mayor of the city at the opening panel of Lugano’s Plan B Forum Michelle Foletti located together with Tether CEO Paolo ArdoinoHe said that the adoption of Bitcoin is “going pretty well.”

Seven months after the duo teamed up to bring widespread use of Bitcoin to the city, Ardoino said 40 businesses are already using crypto with point-of-sale systems.

While that may not seem like a huge number, Ardoino has stated from the beginning that the goal was to drive adoption “in a scientific way”.

Ardoino noted that, as many politicians do, it is important for an official to say that he is pro-Bitcoin. But putting a plan behind those words is a completely different project, he added.

To that end, Ardoino said it’s more important that things run smoothly and smoothly for early adopters, rather than trying to get to mass use quickly.

It currently expects 1,000 Lugano operators to have Bitcoin outlets in their businesses in the first quarter of 2023.

In addition to adoption, Ardoino and Foletti reminded that Lugano’s plan B has two more pillars: Education and this week’s forum.

On the education front, the well-attended Plan B Summer School was held at Franklin University in Lugano last July.

As for the Plan B Forum, there was a good and enthusiastic turnout despite Bitcoin being in a bear market. Foletti and Ardoino said they expect this to be an annual event.
