Berlin Despite the pending final building permit, the US electric car pioneer Tesla seems to be making progress in the so-called Gigafactory near Berlin, according to a media report. During a recent drone overflight over the plant in Grünheide, several Model Y bodies and complete vehicles were spotted.

It cannot be ruled out that these were produced in the plant, reported the website “Electrek”, which specializes in electric vehicles and sustainable energies, on Monday. Scrap parts can also be seen on the video, which could be an indication that production work is in progress in the factory, it said.

In the meantime, not only electric cars but also batteries are to be manufactured in Grünheide. However, there is still no final building permit. It is therefore questionable whether the factory, whose most important areas have been lifted, can go into operation as planned at the end of the year.
