Berlin, Dusseldorf, New York, Tokyo The Cybertruck is considered one of Tesla’s most important future projects. The world’s leading manufacturer of electric vehicles wants to roll up the multi-billion dollar market for pick-ups with the bulky off-road vehicle.

But while other manufacturers have long been on the market with their e-models, Tesla has continued to postpone the start of production for the Cybertruck. In addition, Tesla boss Elon Musk recently indicated that the electric pickup could be significantly more expensive than planned and dampened expectations of sales figures.

What are the reasons? The Handelsblatt and the US magazine “Wired” have evaluated a presumed internal list that provides clues. Last year’s presentation describes the status of the electric pick-up in the “Alpha” development stage – one of several steps on the way to series production. It paints the picture of a prototype that leaks, makes noise and is difficult to steer and brake.
