shanghai According to insiders, the US electric car manufacturer Tesla has to suspend production in the Chinese economic metropolis of Shanghai again due to supply bottlenecks. It is unclear when the problems will be resolved and when Tesla can resume production, two people familiar with the matter told Reuters on Tuesday.

The strict lockdown in the economic metropolis of Shanghai to contain the latest virus outbreak is having a negative impact on the economy and global trade, including supply chains. Tesla only restarted production at the Shanghai site on April 19 after a 22-day standstill. Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The so-called Gigafactory in Shanghai is Tesla’s largest factory. The plant not only serves the Chinese market, but also exports many vehicles to Europe and Japan.

More: Export growth fell to its lowest level in two years in April. The main culprit is the draconian zero-Covid strategy.
