In their new case “The Cold and the Dead”, the Berlin commissioners Nina Rubin (Meret Becker, 52) and Robert Karow (Mark Waschke, 49) have to solve the murder of a young student. They get support from their new colleague Malik Aslan (Tan Caglar, 41).
The murderer, on the other hand, receives support from his parents, who try to remove the traces at the crime scene. BILD clarifies the most important questions about the case.

1) Are parents liable to prosecution if they cover up their child’s act?
No! The prevention of punishment is regulated in Section 258 of the Criminal Code (StGB). Accordingly, it is generally punishable if someone intentionally or knowingly prevents someone else from being punished for his or her act. However, according to Paragraph 6 of the Criminal Code, there is an exception that states that someone will not be punished if he avoids punishment for the benefit of a relative.

2) What does the new investigator prefer to do in his free time?
The new colleague of the Berlin commissioners is played by actor and comedian Tan Caglar. When he’s not filming or touring with his comedy program, he’s an absolute car fan.
Caglar to BILD: “Free time has actually become rarer and therefore all the more valuable. I now enjoy my time with family and friends much more intensely. I also come out as a big car fan and also really enjoy driving myself. Fortunately, that can be easily reconciled with my job and the 110,000 kilometers traveled each year. “
3) Can you destroy actual traces at the crime scene with chlorine bleach?
Yes! Forensic doctors from the University of Duisburg-Essen tested how well DNA traces can survive cleaning agents. Blood and saliva in particular are still easily detectable despite thorough cleaning with a wide variety of means and DNA profiles can be created from them. Chlorine cleaners are an exception. They actually destroy the traces at the crime scene.

4) How long can Meret Becker be seen in the Berlin crime scene?
The actress determined again as inspector Nina Rubin in the “crime scene”. Her last case “The girl who goes home alone” will be broadcast in spring 2022. “It was important to me not to stop after 14, but after 15 episodes, because that’s an odd number,” said Becker.

5) How did the singing scene at the end of the film come about?
Usually Tan Caglar doesn’t sing on stage, like on Sunday evening at “Tatort”.
He to BILD: “From the beginning I said: ‘Friends, if I CANNOT do something – then sing!’ I should have guessed that this is of course a hit for the authors. I asked the director if he really wanted that, because the quotas would suddenly go down at that moment … His answer: ‘Oh, take it easy, nobody will see!’ “
