Munich Despite the global price slide, Siemens Energy is starting its expected multi-billion dollar capital increase to refinance the complete takeover of Siemens Gamesa. The Munich energy technology group wants to increase its capital by up to ten percent and place the new shares with large investors overnight, as Siemens Energy announced on Wednesday evening.

Mathematically, the company could collect more than 1.3 billion euros. Siemens Energy intends to use the proceeds to partially refinance the four billion euro acquisition of the remaining shares in the wind power subsidiary Siemens Gamesa.

The share had risen to an annual high of EUR 22.01 on Tuesday, but had lost almost seven percent on Wednesday as part of the sell-off on the stock exchanges and closed Xetra trading at EUR 18.23. The major shareholder Siemens has repeatedly ruled out investing further capital in Siemens Energy.
