Dusseldorf, Munich Siemens Energy is offering more than four billion euros for the complete takeover of the loss-making wind power subsidiary Siemens Gamesa. After a supervisory board meeting on Saturday evening, the energy technology group announced a voluntary takeover bid for the outside shares in the amount of EUR 18.05 per share. Siemens Energy hopes to get a better grip on the problems at the ailing subsidiary through full integration.

So far, Siemens Energy has owned two-thirds of the listed Spanish subsidiary. This is considered a great hope for the future of the still young group, but she always came up with bad news. In the past few years, all efforts to rehabilitate it have failed.

According to estimates in corporate circles, this is also due to the fact that the group was not able to take direct action against the listed subsidiary. The planned complete takeover also underscores Siemens Energy’s strategy “as one of the leading energy technology companies,” according to a statement.
