Shock aviation decision from France! – ShiftDelete.Net

The whole world is now aware of global warming. While the size of the danger is increasing day by day, many countries are trying to take new measures in this regard. One of these countries is France. The French government has recently taken a new decision that will affect the domestic aviation sector. Here are the details about the French government’s short-haul flight ban…

France has banned all short-haul flights!

According to CNBC’s report, the French government is making new decisions to reduce its carbon footprint. In line with these decisions, all short-haul flights within France were banned. Thus, jet fuels spent for short distances will be saved and harmful gas emissions to the environment will be reduced.

The government announced the decision itself. However, the following questions began to be asked. Which flights are considered short haul? According to the decisions announced by the government, flights between rail transportation and distances not exceeding 2.5 hours are included in this scope. In other words, if you can go where you want to go in less than 2.5 hours by rail, it is forbidden to use an airline between that distance.

We told the story of American Airlines saving 40 thousand dollars by removing a single olive from their breakfast menu.

This situation currently covers airline companies. So if you have your own plane, you can go wherever you want. You don’t have a limit. The law was actually passed by the parliament 2 years ago. However, it was put into effect in 2023 due to objections. In short, a decision taken early but implemented late.

When the decision was first made, the duration covered 5 hours. In other words, flights would be banned for places where you can go in a short time of 5 hours by rail. However, France’s flag carrier airline AirFrance objected to this decision. As a result of objections, the 5 hour rule was reduced to 2.5 hours.

France short distance

Considering the flights organized in French airline transportation, AirFrance Airline’s objection to the decision was justified. Because if the rule had covered 5 hours, almost half of AirFrance’s domestic flights would have been banned. This would mean that a large airline company would become smaller and smaller.

So, what do you think about the short-haul flight ban? Do you think it is necessary to ban short-haul flights like Ankara-Istanbul in Turkey? Don’t forget to give your opinion in the comments section…
