Shenzhou 13’s Team Performs First Spacewalk

The crew transport mission of the People’s Republic of China, scheduled to take 6 months, began on October 15, Shenzhou 13. China’s Manned Space Agency, CMSA, announced on Friday its plans for the spacewalk to take place during the mission. Shenzhou 13’s first spacewalk took place today.

The crew of the space mission Shenzhou 13, carried out by the China Space Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) for crew transport to the China Space Station, entered the Tianhe space station module hours after the launch on October 15.

With the statement made by the China Manned Space Engineering Network, it was announced that the Shenzhou 13 astronaut team will carry out their first excursion activities on November 7, 2021. The first of the non-vehicle services of the Shenzhou 13 team traveling to China’s Tiangong space station module Tianhe, the spacewalk planned to last 6 hours was held today. The mission included astronauts Zhai Zhigang and Wang Yaping.

First spacewalk performed

The Shenzhou team of 13 astronauts has been in orbit for 21 days. Various studies have been carried out so far, such as spacecraft material transfer, space station assembly management, medical intervention in orbit, space testing, and educational projects. The first of the marches, planned to take place at least three times during the mission, took place today.

On the mission, astronauts Zhai Zhigang and Wang Yaping took part in operations in the outboard team, while astronaut Ye Guangfu worked in the cabin to provide support. Ang Yaping became China’s first female astronaut to walk in space.
