Instagram announced in a blog post it shared today that it has made a new setting, which is much more restrictive for users under the age of 16. With the new settings, users will encounter much less sensitive content.
Wanting to make the experience of users under the age of 18 as safe as possible, Instagram shared the age verification options it had previously tested. The company announced today that it will filter the content to be shown especially for younger users. This feature is Instagram’s most limiting filter ever it happened.
In the blog post it shared, Instagram has given the display options of sensitive content for users under the age of 16 “Lessannounced the addition of the ” option. The company also announced that it has started sending notifications to users in the age range to activate the feature.

With the new filter, Instagram users under the age of 16 can be found in Search, Discover, Hashtag pages, Reels, Stream Suggestions and Recommended Accounts section. will encounter much less sensitive content. However, these content will only include content shared from accounts that users do not follow. In other words, if the user has already followed an account with potentially inappropriate content, there will be no filter for displaying such content.
Instagram launched another important feature in June of last year for its users in the same age group. With this feature, the accounts of users under the age of 16 began to be turned into private accounts directly.
