Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) has backed the NATO declaration on Ukraine. The 31 alliance states had “agreed on a good text that is unequivocal,” said Baerbock on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Vilnius. The wording makes it very clear “that the future of Ukraine lies in NATO”. It is absolutely correct that the alliance has not given a date for Ukraine’s accession. “If we knew when this brutal, terrible war, which has brought so much suffering to Ukraine, will end, then all problems would be solved.” But no one can know.
