A long-standing dispute has now finally escalated in the Bundestag’s trust committee.

Berlin When two employees of the Federal Intelligence Service (BND) grab a coffee before the meeting begins, they use the time in front of the meeting room to deliberate: What information do you want to share with the members of the Bundestag on the confidentiality committee? And which ones don’t?

Do they only want to disclose the nine million euros that are needed for the spyware? Or the 23 million euros required for the hardware? The officials agree: We’ll leave it at nine million euros for the time being.

Dennis Rohde is standing right next to them. He is the budget politician of the SPD parliamentary group, a member of the trust committee and listens to everything. An hour later, Rohde therefore requests that the meeting of the committee be canceled. The motion was accepted unanimously by all groups.
