Salesforce Raises Annual Forecast and Appoints Co-Boss

Berlin The SAP competitor Salesforce continues to benefit from the takeover of the office chat provider Slack and is raising its outlook again. For the year ending in January 2022, revenues between 26.39 and 26.40 billion dollars are now expected, announced the cloud pioneer from the USA on Tuesday after the US market closed. At the end of September, Salesforce had recently increased its sales forecast to between $ 26.25 billion and $ 26.35 billion. In the same period last year, $ 21.25 billion had been achieved.

At the same time, Salesforce appointed Bret Taylor as co-CEO alongside company founder Marc Benioff. Taylor has been responsible for operations since 2019. The position of co-chief has been vacant since Keith Block’s resignation in February 2020. “It is an enormous privilege to be able to run the company with him that he co-founded 22 years ago,” said Taylor about working with Benioff.

It wasn’t until the summer that Salesforce finalized the $ 27 billion Slack takeover. Together with Slack, they are now on the right track to crack the sales mark of 50 billion dollars in fiscal year 2026, said Benioff.

In the third fiscal quarter, revenues climbed 27 percent to $ 6.86 billion and were thus above analysts’ expectations. As an industry leader in the market for customer management software (CRM), Salesforce is benefiting from the trend towards home offices. As a result, companies must increasingly rely on computing capacities and applications from the cloud so that their employees can act remotely. However, the outlook for the first quarter of the financial year was weaker than analysts had hoped. Salesforce shares fell seven percent after the hours of trading.

More: A few years ago SAP wanted to reinvent the market for sales, marketing and service software and take over Salesforce customers. Little remains of the great ambitions.
