Russia’s war against Ukraine – all developments

Despite Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, Western researchers continue to see a place for the giant empire in the group of the 20 largest economies (G20). “Russia deserves its chance to remain in the G20.” Canadian political scientist John Kirton said on the sidelines of the German Press Agency’s G20 summit in Nusa Dua on the Indonesian island of Bali.

The director of the G20 research group at the University of Toronto also expects that Russia will support the final declaration of the summit, which started on Tuesday.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who plans to appear at the summit via video, had called for Russia’s exclusion from the G20 in view of the rocket attacks and the bombing of power plants and other energy infrastructure.

Kiev’s foreign ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko had said that keeping Russia in the G20 was no longer worthwhile: “It does not contribute to economic growth or promote peaceful coexistence and prosperity. Russia’s foreign policy seeks to achieve its goals by employing death and destruction.”
