Berlin, Dusseldorf For a long time, Wera helped her compatriots to leave the country. Through her agency in Moscow, she procured residence permits, long-term Schengen visas and passports from EU countries for her wealthy clientele.

Now she has packed her suitcase herself and flew. Not from her job, but from Russia – and in the end she doesn’t even know exactly where to go.

First, the employee of a special agency for the organization of emigration to Europe went by plane to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Flights there are still possible after the blocking of European airspace for Russian airlines.

As in other capitals of former Soviet republics, which people from Moscow or St. Petersburg were hardly worth a look in the end, but which now suddenly serve as safe escape points.
