Dusseldorf A Russian hacker attack on websites of the Ministry of Defense and the Bundestag. A cyber attack on the US agricultural machinery manufacturer Agco, which also stopped production at the subsidiary Fendt in Allgäu. Persistent problems at the wind turbine manufacturer Nordex, which is still feeling the effects of a hacker attack in March: since the start of the Russian attack on Ukraine, cyber attacks from the east have also kept Germany busy.
Politicians are alarmed. Volker Wissing, Federal Minister for Transport and Digital Affairs, recently said at a meeting of digital ministers of the G7 states: “This is also a war on the internet.” And the SPD member of parliament and detective Sebastian Fiedler sees the cyber attacks on German government websites as “the harbingers of what attacks can still come to us”. The Office for the Protection of the Constitution is now warning the economy in particular of Russian espionage attempts and cyber groups.
