Dusseldorf Sometimes a change of perspective helps to understand. Kishore Mahbubani, one of Asia’s most prominent geostrategists, has a different view of the West that contradicts many aspects of European and American self-perception.

The Handelsblatt spoke with the diplomat in Düsseldorf about China’s diverging interests in relation to Moscow, the strategic mistakes of the USA and Europe and Western arrogance. As abominable as the Ukraine war is, according to Mahbubani, in the end it will at best be a “footnote in the epoch-making conflict between the USA and China for world domination”.
