Renovating a house through building savings – is it worth it?

Munich The Building Energy Act is likely to be the next sales booster for building savings contracts. This is what the figures from Schwäbisch Hall, the nation’s largest building society, suggest. According to this, two thirds of all building society loans are already being used for renovations and renovations.

Christian König, General Manager of the Association of Private Building Societies, also assumes that the trend towards building savings will continue: “Anyone who owns a home doesn’t yet know exactly what to expect. But he knows that it will be expensive and that he is well advised to make financial provisions.”
What sounds particularly charming to many: Building societies can now grant loans of up to 50,000 euros as blank loans without the costs of land register entries and notary. This makes it easy to finance a heat pump. But building savings is not a product that is easy to understand, nor is it worthwhile for everyone in every situation.
