Renewable energy breakthrough from Turkey! – ShiftDelete.Net

With the problems experienced in energy resources in recent years, the whole world has turned its attention to renewable energy resources. Turkey is also planning major breakthroughs in this area. According to the news of Dünya Newspaper, the ‘Integration of Renewable Energy Resources (YEK) into the Turkish Electricity System’ report, prepared by the SHURA Energy Transformation Center, was introduced with an online promotional event.

High-capacity bioenergy move: Electricity will be produced from cow dung!

China continues its quest to find new electricity sources. Now it will produce electricity from cow dung.

70% of electricity will come from renewable energy sources by 2030

SHURA Energy Transition Center announced the steps to be taken by organizing the “More Renewable Energy in the Turkish Electricity System” panel. According to the report on the Integration of Renewable Energy Resources into the Turkish Electricity System, Turkey will obtain nearly 70 percent of its energy deficit from renewable energy resources. On the other hand, the orientation to renewable energy sources will also enable to move away from sources that increase carbon emissions.

Energy production from coal, which is one of the first sources that comes to mind in carbon emissions, is expected to decrease. Coal power plants, which produce 20 GW today, are expected to decrease to 5 GW in 2030. Regarding the subject, Selahattin Hakman, Chairman of the SHURA Energy Transformation Center Steering Committee, made the following statements on the subject.

The electricity sector should lead the energy transformation by reducing carbon before other sectors. For this, it is necessary to prepare policies and action plans that will enable reduction of greenhouse gas emissions throughout the economy and create a new strategy in energy transformation. In parallel with the increase in wind and solar energy production in Turkey, a significant reduction in coal use can be achieved without any additional network investment beyond the planned one.

Committee Chairman Hakman reiterated that Turkey has committed to reaching the target of net zero carbon emissions by 2053 with the Paris Agreement. In 2030, 33 GW of wind power and 41 GW of solar power plant will be included in the Turkish electricity grid. Thus, the need for fossil fuels will be reduced to a minimum.
