Koinfinans.com As we have announced, President Erdoğan attended the ‘Blockchain Istanbul’ program held at Istanbul University’s Cemil Bilsel Conference Hall today. Erdogan talked about many topics in the program, but especially what he said about cryptocurrencies became the agenda.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan first touched upon the blockchain technology and stated that Turkey should be a leader in this field:
“Digital assets are the fuel of technology, blockchain is the means of technology. The main point and feature of this technology that makes its wide range of activities, from food supply chains to banks, from logistics operations to works of art, is its fast, efficient, secure and low-cost transaction capability. We want to be the country that uses this tool itself, rather than the one that fuels the digital asset store. Our goal is to reach the position of being a producer, not a follower, but followed in this field as well.”
Erdogan is known for his tough stance on cryptocurrencies. In a previous statement “We have absolutely no problem with opening up to this cryptocurrency. On the contrary, we have a separate war, a separate struggle against them.” had used the words.
Today, he compared cryptocurrencies to “gambling” and gave the following advice to young people:
